Kathmandu, Sept 15 – Nepal received remittances worth Rs. 1.77 trillion in the first month (Shrawan) of the current fiscal year 2082/83, up by 29.9% compared to the same period last year, according to Nepal Rastra Bank.
In US dollar terms, the inflow grew by 25% to reach 1.27 billion USD. Last year, the growth rate was 15.8%.
The central bank also reported that Nepal’s net secondary income reached Rs. 1.93 trillion in Shrawan, compared to Rs. 1.48 trillion in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, more Nepalis sought jobs abroad. In Shrawan, 44,466 people received final labor approvals for foreign employment, while 23,644 received renewals. Both figures are higher than the same month last year.
