Kathmandu, Sept 27: Twenty-one people died from incidents of natural disaster including landslide, flood and inundation following incessant rainfall occurred from Thursday across the country.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), five persons have gone missing and five others sustained injuries in the disaster till this evening. Similarly, 747 families were directly affected from landslide, flood and inundation.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall had occurred at different places of the country from September 24 due to low-pressure system developed at Bay of Bengal. According to the NDRRMA, around 2,000 citizens of flood, landslide affected districts were shifted to safer places in last four days.
Arrangement of necessary lodging and fooding as well as relief was made available for rescued persons through local levels in coordination with concerned district administration offices.
Spokesperson Shanti Mahat shared that those trapped in flood and landslide in different districts including Jajarkot, Myagdi and Baglung were rescued by air. One hundred forty-three houses suffered completely damages while 51 houses suffered partial damages in the disaster.
The Flood Forecasting Division had sent 814,000 SMS to locals of areas of potential flood, landslide, and inundation. More than 100 millimetres rainfall was measured at 186 stations across the country in four days.
