Kathmandu, Sept 14: Contributions to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund have been gradually increasing to help the post-disaster management works in the country.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Fund currently holds a total balance of Rs 13.68 billion. Of the total amount collected, almost Rs 10 billion is held in accounts across nine commercial banks. Additionally, a balance of USD 23.6 million is held in two commercial banks.
It may be noted that one billion rupees was disbursed from the Fund to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority for carrying out relief support activities in the flood-affected areas. (RSS)
