Kathmandu – Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in different parts of the country last night, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Heavy rain occurred in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while Kathmandu and other areas saw light to moderate showers.

At present, light to moderate rainfall is continuing in some parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, as well as a few areas of Karnali.

The department forecasts moderate rainfall this afternoon in many hilly areas and some Tarai regions, particularly in Lumbini Province. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in a few areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali, as well as isolated places in Koshi and Bagmati. A few areas of Gandaki and Lumbini could even experience very heavy rainfall.

For tonight, moderate rainfall is likely in many places of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some areas of the remaining provinces. Heavy rainfall is also possible in a few places of Gandaki and Lumbini, and at isolated locations in Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim.

The department said the monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average location, with moist winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal influencing the weather.
