Washington, Sept 15 – The death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has triggered a strong reaction from right-wing groups in the U.S., who accuse Democrats of long practicing “cancel culture.” Now, conservatives are using similar tactics against Kirk’s critics.

According to reports, teachers, government employees, office workers, and TV analysts have faced pressure, suspension, or even dismissal after being accused of mocking or criticizing Kirk. More actions are expected in the coming weeks.

Former President Donald Trump, who often praised Kirk, hinted that political rivals could face investigations, saying, “Many Democrats are already under serious investigation.” Republican lawmakers and conservative leaders have described Kirk as a “warrior of free speech” and demanded consequences for those they believe disrespected his death.

Some liberal voices online, however, have criticized even those who expressed sorrow, showing how divided public opinion remains. Experts warn that social media is fueling anger and creating a climate where violence and misinformation can spread quickly.

Republican senators like Lindsey Graham and Marsha Blackburn called the killing an attack on the conservative movement. Blackburn even demanded universities fire professors who failed to show sympathy. Meanwhile, NFL teams held a moment of silence to honor Kirk.

Governor Spencer Cox of Utah said there is no proof the killing was politically motivated, even though the suspect identified as a Democrat. Still, many conservatives believe liberal rhetoric encouraged violence.

Observers say the backlash reflects growing polarization in the U.S. “This pattern has been around for decades, but now it’s intensifying,” said Adam Goldstein, a free speech advocate.
