Kathmandu, October 6: The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday has risen to 60, according to Nepal Police.
Among the victims are 19 men, 26 women, and 15 children. The highest number of casualties has been reported from Ilam district, where 37 people lost their lives due to landslides and floods.
Similarly, 8 deaths were reported in Panchthar, 3 in Udayapur, 2 in Khotang, 1 in Sunsari, 3 in Rautahat, and one each in Morang, Mahottari, Sindhupalchok, and Sindhuli. In addition, 2 people died in Kavrepalanchok district.
Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing in the affected areas as authorities continue to assess the damage.
