October 5, Kathmandu — Long-distance vehicles from Kathmandu are still not allowed to travel to their destinations as of this morning.

Although the situation inside the Kathmandu Valley is normal, roads leading out of the valley have not yet fully reopened, so long-distance vehicle movement remains restricted. Transport companies have also been told to stop booking new tickets for now.

According to SP Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, no long-distance vehicles have been allowed to leave from any of the valley’s entry points today. “Except for essential vehicles, no buses or other vehicles were allowed to leave or enter Kathmandu this morning,” SP Subedi said.

He also informed that passengers who had already bought bus tickets have been refunded. “Those who had purchased tickets got their money back from ticket counters, and new bookings have been stopped. We have told transport operators to resume ticket sales only after the roads become safe and normal again,” he added.

Due to heavy rain, floods, and landslides, the government had earlier decided to restrict vehicle movement in and out of the Kathmandu Valley from Ashoj 18 to 20 (October 4 to 6).
