Kathmandu: At least five persons died in a road accident occurred last midnight in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha. Twelve others were injured in the accident.
It is said that the jeep (01-023 Cha 4427) was carrying the newly-wedded couple and other participants from Chilingkot village to Taklung village in the rural municipality.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Gorkha Dinesh Sagar Bhusal confirmed that four men and a woman died after the jeep plunged some 200 meters off the road last midnight and the security personnel are working to confirm the identity of those deceased.
A team of police personnel led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Leelaraj Lamichhane is at the site working for the rescue operations.
Details of the accident are awaited.
