Kathmandu: Due to an increasing number of patients, hospitals in Nepalgunj are currently facing a blood shortage. The Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Nepal Red Cross has reported that the hospitals have been experiencing a scarcity of blood as the demand for blood from patients unexpectedly rose on a daily basis.
Upendra Regmi, the head of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center, acknowledged the recent blood shortage in Nepalgunj. He stated, “The hospital in Nepalgunj has seen a surge in patient numbers, which has presented significant challenges in meeting their daily blood requirements.”
Regmi emphasized the need to rely on blood donation programs organized by social organizations and other institutions to address the shortage of blood in the center. He explained that the low number of blood donation programs conducted in the region has contributed to the blood scarcity in Nepalgunj.
In addition, he appealed to social organizations and other groups to arrange blood donation drives in order to alleviate the blood shortage in the transfusion center. By donating blood, they would be providing a lifeline to patients in need.
